The Letter That Did Not Need Sending
Someone wrote a long letter and then did not send it. They read it once, folded it, and put it in a drawer. Years later they found it and were surprised by how kind it was.
Nothing had been asked of the letter. It had not been read by the person it was for, had not been graded, had not changed anyone's mind. It was still a good letter.
If you have ever produced something that went nowhere, a draft that was discarded, an answer the window closed on, this is for you. It was still a good letter.
